Ag Industry Presents Road Safety Use Case at the ETSI IoT Week

With over 800 member companies and organizations worldwide, ETSI is active in the field of ICT standardization. At the end of October, the ETSI IoT Week took place at the Sophia Antipolis technology park in France.

There, the agricultural machinery industry presented a use case to demonstrate wireless communication between agricultural machinery and cars. This communication involves an automatic warning transmitted to nearby cars when a large or slow agricultural machine leaves the field and enters road traffic.

This change from the field to the road is detected by information from the ISOBUS of the tractor-implement assembly, whereupon the warning is automatically sent.

In order to produce a prototype of this system, a “hackathon” organized by the project team “Wireless In-field Communication” (PT 11) of the  Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) took place in advance at OSB AG in Munich. In addition to the ISOBUS experts from OSB AG, other PT 11 members from CLAAS E-Systems, John Deere and DSA Daten- und Systemtechnik GmbH were also among the participants.
